Beaumont varsity jacket showing traditional patch placement

Letterman Guide

Where Every Patch Goes.

Letterman jacket placement follows tradition, balance, and the story each student wants to carry.

The letter anchors the jacket. Every patch after that should support the layout, keep the jacket readable, and leave room for future achievements.

Left Chest

The varsity chenille letter sits over the heart. Names, pins, and achievement inserts are usually arranged around or above the main letter.

Right Chest

School names, mascot embroidery, and smaller achievement marks often sit opposite the main letter so the front of the jacket stays balanced.

Upper Sleeve

Graduation year patches usually sit on the upper sleeve. This placement marks the class year without competing with the varsity letter.

Lower Sleeves

Sport, activity, captain, MVP, championship, and participation patches are commonly stacked down the sleeves as the story grows.

Back Shoulders

Last names and nicknames are often embroidered across the back shoulders for the boldest personal statement on the jacket.

Back Panel

Large mascot artwork, favorite sayings, and additional statement patches belong on the back panel when the design needs room.

Plan for the Whole Jacket.

A new jacket should leave space for senior year, championship seasons, and future activities. During an appointment, we map the first round of patches with the full jacket in mind.
