Custom Letterman Jackets Made to Last.
24 oz melton wool. Genuine leather sleeves. A Zip-In lining that opens for clean patch and embroidery application.
Crafted for Southern California schools and leagues since 1985.
Built for Customization.
Engineered from the inside out for patch and embroidery application. Made in the USA by a family-owned manufacturer with over 40 years of heritage, customized at our Moreno Valley studio since 1985.

Zip-In Lining
The lining completely unzips so a sewing machine arm reaches inside the jacket body. Patches are sewn directly through the wool without stitching through the lining; no puckering on the inside, no iron-on shortcuts. The result is a cleaner application and a professional finish that holds up for decades.

24 oz Melton Wool Body
Melton wool is a dense fabric created by fulling the weave until individual yarns become nearly invisible. At 24 ounces it is heavy enough to cut wind and smooth enough to provide the ideal substrate for chenille patch application and direct embroidery.
The Anatomy of a Letterman Jacket.
Five materials. One jacket. Every component chosen for a reason, from the wool that cuts wind to the sleeves that define the silhouette.
Wool Body
24 oz melton wool for natural wind resistance with a smooth surface engineered for clean chenille patch application.
Leather Sleeves
Genuine cowhide that gains character over time. Built to last decades while maintaining its quality.
Zip-In Lining
Our design opens completely so patches are sewn through the wool body, not through the lining.
Ribbed Trim
Collar, cuffs, and waistband knit in your school color stripes. Tight-gauge construction maintains shape and snap-back through years of wear.
Snap Closures
Reinforced metal snaps: the signature letterman closure. Built to maintain their grip through thousands of open-close cycles.
Made in USA
Crafted domestically from start to finish, not just assembled here. This supports tighter quality control and a legacy of American workmanship.
160 Years of Earned Achievement.
In 1865, Harvard's baseball team sewed letter patches onto flannel sweaters to honor their best players and a tradition was born. By the 1930s, the modern letterman jacket had taken shape: wool body, leather sleeves, chenille letter over the heart. The 1950s turned it into an American icon. From "Rebel Without a Cause" to "Grease" to Friday night lights, the varsity jacket became the uniform of earned achievement.
The tradition never left. Hip-hop made it a streetwear staple. Luxury houses put it on the runway. But the craft behind it hasn't changed: premium wool, real leather, chenille patches that tell a story one stitch at a time.
For 40+ years, Fancy Stitchin' has been the studio that Southern California athletes trust with their story. From our Moreno Valley studio to high schools across the Inland Empire, we build varsity jackets meant to carry your legacy.
Customization Options.
Chenille Texture
Distinct textures have defined the letterman tradition since the 1930s. Chenille delivers a clean, classic finish and maximizes plush dimension. Embroidery delivers a refined look for all the details.
Embroidery Style
Satin stitch produces smooth, lustrous fills ideal for lettering and borders. Chenille covers large areas with texture. Combining techniques is where craftsmanship shows.
Sleeve Material
Genuine leather that gains character over years rather than cracking and peeling. Budget jackets use bonded leather or vinyl that fails within a season. Our quality leather sleeves are built to last decades.
Where Every Patch Goes.
Every patch has its place. The letter over the heart. Your name right above it. Year on the sleeve. We know the tradition because we've been stitching it for 40+ years.
Left Chest
Varsity chenille letter: the most iconic placement, over the heart. Achievement pins and inserts affixed directly to the chenille.
Right Chest
School and mascot embroidery positioned opposite the second snap. Achievements placed beneath.
Left Sleeve (Upper)
Graduation year patch just below the shoulder, marking your class and era.
Sleeves (Lower)
Activity and achievement patches stacked vertically. Championship patches, sport icons, and award insignia.
Back Panel
Your name across the shoulders: the boldest, most visible section of the jacket.
Jacket Back
Your name in bold across the shoulders and your favorite sayings for a personal touch.
Caring for Your Jacket.
A letterman jacket is a decades-long investment. These small habits are the difference between a jacket that cracks in two years and one that gets passed down.
Wool Care
Use a dry cloth to extract moisture if the wool gets wet: dab, never rub. Never get the patches wet. The water will cause the chenille to permanently lose its texture and shape.
Leather Care
Wipe wet leather immediately with a dry cloth. Never use heat to dry.
Storage
Always hang on a padded or broad wooden hanger and never fold. Store in a breathable fabric garment bag.
