Custom Chenille Patches for Every Achievement.
Custom chenille patches crafted in Southern California. Engineered for heritage, built to last.
The Anatomy of a Patch.
High-Density Chenille
Our acrylic-wool blend yarn is high-looped. Pillowy fibers create a signature plush, three-dimensional texture. The result is a patch built for long term durability that holds its shape and color through years of wear.
Precision Satin Stitching
Every border is machine-stitched using high-tensile polyester thread, chosen for its superior colorfastness and tensile strength. Quality back-felt locks the chenille pile in place, giving each patch a clean, sharp edge.
Pile Depth
Pile height is optimized for bold, plush dimension. Our digitizers program each zone independently and ensure that every patch achieves the perfect balance of texture and detail.
Patch Pricing.
Custom chenille and embroidered patches are $40 per patch. We build each piece for school colors, sport details, and jacket placement, then confirm the final design before production.
160 Years of Tradition.
In 1865, Harvard's baseball team stitched the first varsity letter onto a sweater, a thick flannel “H” that only top performers were allowed to keep. By the 1930s, the letterman jacket had taken its modern form: wool body, leather sleeves, and a chenille letter on the left chest. The 1950s made it an icon of American high school culture.
Fancy Stitchin' has been part of that tradition for over 40 years, crafting letterman jacket patches for schools and leagues across Southern California since 1985. From the Inland Empire to the coast, our patches carry the same weight they did when the first varsity letter was earned.
Your patch carries that same weight.
Versatility in Thread.
Chenille for bold dimension, embroidery for fine detail. Our most iconic creations blend both techniques into a single patch.

Chenille vs. Embroidery.
Chenille Patches
- Plush, three-dimensional texture you can feel
- Bold letters and large shapes
- Classic varsity heritage and visual impact
- Ideal for letterman jackets and award patches
Embroidered Patches
- Smooth, flat precision for fine detail
- Small text, complex logos
- Professional, polished finish
- Ideal for names, years, and intricate designs
Many of our finest pieces combine both techniques. Chenille for the bold statement, embroidery for the fine detail. That's how you get a patch that looks premium from across the room and up close.
Bespoke Options.
Felt Backing
Every patch is built on traditional scrim felt, a dense, non-woven wool-rayon blend that prevents edge fraying and provides flexible, robust support. Felt is the industry standard for chenille letterman patches, giving each piece a classic weight and vintage finish.
Thread Selection
We match every school color under standardized lighting conditions to ensure accuracy. "Close enough" is never acceptable. Our solution-dyed yarns lock color into the fiber itself, delivering superior colorfastness that holds true season after season.
Border Finishes
Precision-cut edges deliver a clean, sharp profile that suits even the most complex shapes. A precision cut back-felt locks the chenille pile in place and gives every piece a polished silhouette that holds up over time.
Caring for Your Patch.
No Washing
Patches should never be washed or dry cleaned. The agitation, heat, and water can each flatten the pile and damage the patch permanently.
Spot Cleaning
Gently wipe away surface dirt with a soft cloth. Never use water as the chenille may lay flat and lose its texture.
Handling
Avoid crushing or compressing the chenille pile. Store patches flat or on the garment to preserve loop texture and dimensional shape.
